Welcome to Bret Harte Elementary School
Educating for Life At Bret Harte Elementary we are committed to providing an environment where every student achieves to their fullest potential. Each and every Bret Harte student is taught to learn without limit. As a school, we develop and articulate programs and partnerships that create a learning community characterized by high academic and social expectations.
Community of Learners Students at BretHarteSchool are challenged to embrace learning in an environment that is physically and emotionally nurturing while being intellectually inspired. Faculty and staff are challenged to foster a school community that works to enrich the education of all students and where parent participation is encouraged and embraced at all levels.
Elementary Art All Bret Harte students receive art instruction as part of our visual arts program. The program focuses on a variety of techniques, art history, principles of design, drawing, and painting approaches. Student artwork fill the hallways at BretHarteSchool and parents and community members are treated to an annual showcase that highlights students' artwork.
Service to Community Bret Harte Elementary School provides many opportunities for students to participate in service learning that focuses on identified community needs. Some of these projects include collecting donation for the local animal shelter, support of the SF Food Bank, and participation in green campaigns. Each year, the school hosts an Environmental Fair which features hands-on activities and displays that educate the community about various environmental issues.
